Ten instruments remain built by J Dulken, a XVIII century Flemish factor. One of which, built in 1755, is in the Brussels' museum. This instrument could be considered the result of productive, life long research into structure: it has a lovely timbre and holds it's tuning remarkably well.
An excellent continuo instrument, its frank attack is distinguished easily from the instruments of the orchestra. For a soloist repertory, the brightly harmonic sound makes it polyphonic and powerful. (…)

Double manual Francoflemish harpsichord after Rückers-Taskin.
The Flemish musical instrument construction achieved its peak with the Rückers familty. Andreas Rückers constructed 1646 a magnificent Flemish instrument: very rich sound in the upper harmonics, very small keyboard, archaic mechanism.
One century later the sound of this instrument was still very much admired but because of its mechanism which was outdated in the 18th century and of its tone range, it was no longer able to be (…)

Double keyboard FRENCH HARPSICHORD after Jean-Claude GOUJON.
J.Cl. Goujon was a XVIIIth century French harpsichordmaker . At that time, the French makers used to copy XVIIth century Flemish instruments but progressively softened the sound. J.Cl. Goujon is situated in the middle of this transition: he has left the very harmonic Flemish sound, present, fleshy, polyphonic and not yet reached the late French sound, round, with the instruments played with the ends of the fingers, delicate, a (…)

Single keyboard ITALIAN HARPSICHORD after GRIMALDI
A large Italian harpsichord with very elegant lines the Grimaldi has a long, thin and exceptionally curved bentside. In waxed cypress, it is pure and sumptuous.
The Italian harpsichord has a remarkably different sound from the French and Flemish characterized by a powerful attack very effective in continuo playing.
The sound is brilliant, clean, and quite sweet with a 18th century timbre : a very laudable sparkle.

Single keyboard ITALIAN HARPSICHORD after GIUSTI
This small Italian harpsichord with very bright sonority is admirably adapted to the accompaniment of the 17th century music. The Italian harpsichord sounds very different from the French and Flemish, characterized by a powerful attack. This attack is very effective in continuo playing. The tone is very rich in harmonics.
Technically, it is an Italian harpsichord with a false integrated case: the majority of the Italians have very thin (…)

Single Keyboard FRENCH HARPSICHORD after "BLANCHET"
Here is an extremely typified instrument of the French school: the bass notes are round and clear like a drum, the treble is almost ethereal... Mannered, it is a light, airy instrument, to be played with the tips of the fingers which expresses to perfection the delicacy of XVIII century French music.
The refinement of this harpsichord can be seen in its detailed finishing, including effects of perspective on the bridges.
Single keyboard FLEMISH HARPSICHORD after Albertus DELIN.
It is a large single keyboard harpsichord. The bass sounds strong and very rich, the treble is fleshy and present. The polyphonic repertory is particularly suited to this instrument; as well as the Flemish and German music.
Although Albertus DELIN worked in the XVIII century, he remained completely faithful to what was considered the apogee of musical aesthetics, slightly before his era in his country in the XVII century. But in (…)
